Lost Maples

This blogging thing really is ridiculously easy to do - I should do it more often. We went to Lost Maples last weekend, and the trees were spectacular. I got all sorts of awesome pictures of the trees - and even a few of the kids. (I maintain that trees are easier to photograph since they don't generally make silly faces at the camera. If God had wanted me to take more pictures of the kids, he'd have made it an easier task!)

Anyhow, here's the link for the Medina River and Lost Maples pictures...

Texas

Well, there is definitely better weather here in Texas than in California. And by better, I mean worse : )

This is a cloudburst as seen from our front balcony windows. The kids (and a couple of neighbors) were literally chased down the street by the rain as it came roaring in from the north. In my best 'redneck voice', "It sounded like a freight train was comin' right through the house!"

The "funder" and lightening is cool too - way more fun than the drizzle we get in California.

However...

It's 98 degrees and suffocatingly humid when the storm passes on by. Oy.

A day at the beach

That would be Emma, Austin, and Madeline on the pier in Huntington.

After a long day at the beach we walked to the end of the pier and had dinner at Ruby's. We got a chance to watch the sun set while we waited for our table.

I am hoping we get a chance to do similar things in Texas. I'll miss the sunset over the Pacific though.

Graduation Day

Well, graduation day has come and gone. Madeline Bear is no longer an eighth grader, no longer in junior high, no longer a little girl.

*sniff*

It's amazing to me how fast she's grown. And she's so beautiful... Who's child IS that?
